HV transformer: load (copper) loss at STC

Load loss of a high-voltage transformer at full system power

Unit %

What it is

The load loss of a high-voltage step-up transformer at the system's reference power, as a fraction, applied to the system total.

Typical values and how to get it

0 when the system has none; 0.3 to 0.6 % of the reference power when it has one. If not given: 0: no high-voltage transformer copper loss.

How it is applied

Ploss(t)=fHV,Cu Pref,sysPF2(Psys(t)Pref,sys)2P_{\text{loss}}(t) = \frac{f_{HV,Cu}\,P_{ref,sys}}{\text{PF}^2}\left(\frac{P_{sys}(t)}{P_{ref,sys}}\right)^2

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
Ploss(t)P_{\text{loss}}(t) the loss of the timestep W
fHV,Cuf_{HV,Cu} this input as a fraction —
Pref,sysP_{ref,sys} the system's AC reference power, the sum over the inverters W
PF\text{PF} the power factor —
Psys(t)P_{sys}(t) the system's inverter output, or with the cascade reference the power after the MV line W
