MV line: loss fraction at STC

Resistive loss of the medium-voltage line at full system power

Unit %

What it is

The resistive loss of the medium-voltage line from the inverter transformers to the HV transformer or the injection point, at the system's reference power, as a fraction. It is applied once to the system total.

Typical values and how to get it

From the line length, cross-section and voltage; collection lines are commonly designed for 0.5 % to 1 % at full power. If not given: 0: no medium-voltage line loss.

How it is applied

Ploss(t)=fMVL Pref,sysPF2(Psys(t)Pref,sys)2P_{\text{loss}}(t) = \frac{f_{MVL}\,P_{ref,sys}}{\text{PF}^2}\left(\frac{P_{sys}(t)}{P_{ref,sys}}\right)^2

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
Ploss(t)P_{\text{loss}}(t) the loss of the timestep W
fMVLf_{MVL} this input as a fraction —
Pref,sysP_{ref,sys} the system's AC reference power, the sum over the inverters W
PF\text{PF} the power factor —
Psys(t)P_{sys}(t) the system's inverter output, or with the cascade reference the power after the MV transformers W
