MV transformer: load (copper) loss at STC

Load loss of the medium-voltage transformer at full power

Unit %

What it is

The load loss of the medium-voltage transformer at the reference power, as a fraction.

Typical values and how to get it

The transformer's load loss at its rating in kilowatts, times the square of the reference power over the rating, divided by the reference power; about 1 %. If not given: 0: no transformer copper loss.

How it is applied

Ploss(t)=fCu PrefPF2(P(t)Pref)2P_{\text{loss}}(t) = \frac{f_{Cu}\,P_{ref}}{\text{PF}^2}\left(\frac{P(t)}{P_{ref}}\right)^2

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
Ploss(t)P_{\text{loss}}(t) the loss of the timestep W
fCuf_{Cu} this input as a fraction —
PrefP_{ref} the AC reference power of one inverter (Model tab: AC power reference) W
PF\text{PF} the power factor —
P(t)P(t) the inverter output of the timestep, or with the cascade reference the output less the AC wiring loss W
