Unavailability: flat energy fraction

Share of the exported energy lost to outages, applied last

Unit %

What it is

The share of the exported energy lost to outages and maintenance, as a fraction, applied last at every timestep. It is the expected value of random outages spread over the year. Use the unavailability periods instead to place the outages in time.

Typical values and how to get it

1 to 2 % for a utility-scale system, 0 for a result without outages or when periods are given. If not given: 0: no flat unavailability.

How it is applied

Egrid=(1−funav) EbeforeE_{\text{grid}} = (1 - f_{\text{unav}})\, E_{\text{before}}

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
EgridE_{\text{grid}} the energy exported in the timestep after the unavailability Wh
funavf_{\text{unav}} this input as a fraction —
