Azimuth

The compass direction the plane faces

Unit ° clockwise from true north

What it is

The compass direction the module plane faces, counted clockwise from true north: 0 is north, 90 east, 180 south and 270 west. For a tracker it is the direction of the axis, pointing toward its lower end when the axis is tilted; a positive rotation faces the azimuth plus 90°. For an east-west array it is the reference direction the two faces sit 90° either side of.

Typical values and how to get it

From the layout drawing: 180 for an array facing the equator in the northern hemisphere, 0 for one facing the equator in the southern hemisphere, 180 for a horizontal north-south tracker axis in either hemisphere, and 180 for an east-west array whose faces point east and west. If not given: 180° (facing south; for a tracker, the axis runs north–south).
