Collector band width

Width of the module plane across the row

Unit m

What it is

The width of the module plane measured across the row, along the slope, in metres. It is the largest distance the shadow of the row in front can climb up the plane. The row pitch is this width divided by the ground cover ratio. The inactive bands at the top and bottom of the row (Racking tab) lie outside this width and add to it, the convention of PVsyst's sheds and trackers.

Typical values and how to get it

The module length times the number of modules stacked across the row, plus the gap between them: about 2.3 m for one current module in portrait and about 4.6 m for two. If not given: 2.0 m.
