Irradiance-optimised tracking: method

What it is

Flat on diffuse steps (flat_switch): the tracker lies flat when the flat plane collects at least the gain threshold more than the tracking rotation and GHI is at least the GHI threshold. Best plane angle (best_angle): PVsyst's irradiance optimisation as two PVsyst 8.1.5 runs show it. Two searches leave the tracking rotation in steps of 1°, toward lower and toward higher rotations, and the tracker takes the rotation with the most plane irradiance after the diffuse and albedo shading of the rows. It applies on timesteps with a GHI of at least 14 W/m². The step page gives the rules.

Typical values and how to get it

flat_switch, the default. It is read only when Tracking mode: irradiance optimization is on.
