LID loss factor

Power lost in the first days of sunlight

Unit %

What it is

The power a module loses permanently during its first days of exposure to sunlight, as a fraction.

Typical values and how to get it

0.5 to 2 % for p-type crystalline silicon, close to 0 for n-type modules. The PAN file may suggest a value. If not given: 0: no light-induced degradation.

How it is applied

Pafter=Pbefore (1−fLID)P_{\text{after}} = P_{\text{before}}\,(1 - f_{\text{LID}})

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
PafterP_{\text{after}} the array DC power after this derate W
PbeforeP_{\text{before}} the array DC power before it W
fLIDf_{\text{LID}} this input as a fraction —
