Loss row

Array virtual energy at MPP

The DC energy the array could deliver at its best operating point

Unit kWh/kWp

What this step does

The row is the DC energy the array would deliver if the inverter always operated it at its maximum-power point: the nominal energy after the rear-side gain, the irradiance-level, temperature and spectral rows, the flat derates and the wiring loss.

The math

Empp=Enom+∑kΔEk(1)E_{mpp} = E_{nom} + \sum_k \Delta E_k \tag{1}

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
EmppE_{mpp} the array energy at maximum power kWh/kWp
EnomE_{nom} the array nominal energy kWh/kWp
ΔEk\Delta E_k the rows between the two, from the rear-side gain to the DC wiring loss, gains positive and losses negative kWh/kWp

Reading the number

A total, positive: about 85 to 92 % of the nominal energy on a monofacial system. Hot sites and poorly ventilated rooftop modules sit at the low end. A bifacial rear side adds to it.
