Loss row

Active Energy injected into grid

The energy delivered to the grid

Unit kWh/kWp

What this step does

The last line of the solar part of the diagram: the energy delivered at the grid connection over the year before any battery, net of the night draws. In kWh/kWp the row is the specific yield. Divided by the reference yield, the plane irradiation divided by 1 kW/m², it gives the performance ratio.

The math

Egrid=Einv+∑kΔEk(1)E_{grid} = E_{inv} + \sum_k \Delta E_k \tag{1}

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
EgridE_{grid} the energy delivered to the grid kWh/kWp
EinvE_{inv} the energy at the inverter output kWh/kWp
ΔEk\Delta E_k the AC rows between the two, losses negative kWh/kWp

Reading the number

A total, positive: the specific yield, about 1,200 to 2,200 kWh/kWp a year for a utility plant and 900 to 1,500 kWh/kWp for a rooftop system, set by the site's sunlight and every row above it. Auxiliaries and transformer losses sized for a larger plant can take it to zero or below on a small system; the run then warns in summary.warnings.
