Diode ideality factor

Ideality factor of the one-diode circuit; not read, the model solves its own

Unit –

What it is

The ideality factor of the diode in the one-diode circuit model. The circuit model is fitted through the short-circuit current and the open-circuit voltage at standard conditions and a third point set by the One-diode STC point step: the datasheet maximum-power point, or a maximum equal to the nameplate. The ideality factor is the value that fit solves for, so this input does not enter the calculation; it records the value of the PAN file or the library fit.

Typical values and how to get it

The PAN value, or the library value derived from the CEC fit: for a CEC library module it is the CEC modified ideality factor over the thermal voltage of the cells in series at 25 °C, n = a_ref / (N_s × 0.025693 V). If not given: 1. The value is recorded, not used: the circuit fit solves its own ideality factor.
