Shunt resistance exponent

Exponent of the shunt-resistance law

Unit –

What it is

The exponent that sets how fast the shunt resistance falls from its dark value to its reference value as the irradiance rises.

Typical values and how to get it

5.5 unless the PAN file says otherwise.

How it is applied

Rsh(G)=Rsh,base+(Rsh,0−Rsh,base)e−csh G/Gref,Rsh,base=Rsh,ref−Rsh,0 e−csh1−e−cshR_{\text{sh}}(G) = R_{\text{sh,base}} + \left(R_{\text{sh,0}} - R_{\text{sh,base}}\right) e^{-c_{sh}\,G/G_{\text{ref}}}, \qquad R_{\text{sh,base}} = \frac{R_{\text{sh,ref}} - R_{\text{sh,0}}\,e^{-c_{sh}}}{1 - e^{-c_{sh}}}

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
Rsh(G)R_{\text{sh}}(G) the shunt resistance at irradiance GG Ω
Rsh,baseR_{\text{sh,base}} the value the law approaches at high irradiance Ω
Rsh,0R_{\text{sh,0}} the shunt resistance at zero irradiance, from the module file (Shunt resistance at zero irradiance) Ω
cshc_{sh} this input —
GG the effective irradiance on the module W/m²
GrefG_{\text{ref}} the reference irradiance W/m²
Rsh,refR_{\text{sh,ref}} the shunt resistance at the reference irradiance, from the module file (Shunt resistance at reference irradiance) Ω
