Placement azimuth
The direction the device faces, clockwise from north
Unit °
What it is
The compass direction the device faces, clockwise from true north: 0 north, 90 east, 180 south, 270 west. For a tracker it is the bearing of the axis, pointing toward its lower end when the axis is tilted. For an east-west ridge it is the bearing of the ridge: the faces look toward azimuth − 90 and azimuth + 90. Rows advance along the azimuth for racks and 90° from it for trackers and ridges.
Typical values and how to get it
As surveyed: 180 for a south-facing rack in the northern hemisphere. For a horizontal north-south tracker axis use 180; the array section's rotation stops then count negative toward the east and positive toward the west. Use 0 only when the axis descends toward the north; 0 and 180 form two orientation bins.
