API field
Device kind
Fixed rack, single-axis tracker or east-west ridge
What it is
The mounting of the device. A fixed rack (gft) holds the tilt, azimuth and roll of its placement; a single-axis tracker (sat) rotates about the axis its placement lays out. An east-west ridge (ewf) is two fixed faces back to back along the bearing of its placement, each at the placement's tilt.
Typical values and how to get it
Match the mounting. Every type names its kind; there is no default. Take it from the project's mounting: the folder and placemark names of a layout file, such as Racks and Rack0, do not state it. A rooftop array is a gft type on the roof plane. A tracker's rotation limits, backtracking and stow come from the array section (Racking tab) and are the same for every tracker. An ewf scene holds ewf types only and runs with array.track_mode ewf.
Values
Fixed rack = gft · Single-axis tracker = sat · East-west ridge = ewf
