pvperfsolar performance modeling

Reference / Inverter efficiency

Model option

Flat efficiency

One efficiency at every load

Inputs used: inverter.partload_fractions, inverter.voltage_curve_v, Max. efficiency, Power threshold

Method

The AC output is the DC input above the power threshold times one efficiency, the inverter's maximum efficiency from the Inverter tab (1). The efficiency curves and the DC voltage are not read. At or below the power threshold the output is zero. The operating-limit step cuts the output at the AC nameplate.

Settings

Setting Value
Efficiency η\eta the inverter's maximum efficiency (Inverter tab); 98 % if not given; 96 % in the simple request
Power threshold PthrP_{thr} the inverter's power threshold (Inverter tab); 0 W if not given

The math

Pout={η (Pdc−Pthr)Pdc>Pthr0Pdc≤Pthr(1)P_{out} = \begin{cases} \eta\,(P_{dc} - P_{thr}) & P_{dc} > P_{thr} \\ 0 & P_{dc} \le P_{thr} \end{cases} \tag{1}

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
PoutP_{out} the AC output before the operating limits W
η\eta the efficiency —
PdcP_{dc} the DC input W
PthrP_{thr} the power threshold W
