pvperfsolar performance modeling

Reference / One-diode maximum-power point

Model option

Exact maximum

The maximum of the curve's power

Inputs used: Open-circuit voltage, Short-circuit current

Method

The maximum-power point is the voltage at which the curve's power is largest, found to 10⁻⁹ V in the diode voltage (1).

The math

Pmpp=max⁡Vm Vm Im(Vm)(1)P_{mpp} = \max_{V_m}\ V_m\,I_m(V_m) \tag{1}

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
PmppP_{mpp} the module power at the maximum-power point W
Im(Vm)I_m(V_m) the module current. At voltage VmV_m on the timestep's curve A
