Model step
Rear mismatch
Mismatch loss from non-uniform rear irradiance
Inputs used: Rear mismatch model, Mismatch loss factor (rear side), Bifacial model, Bifaciality factor
What it is
The rear side of a bifacial module is lit unevenly: the cell rows near the ground see more of the bright ground between the rows than the rows near the top. Cells in series carry one current, so the unevenly lit module produces less than the sum of its cells. This step sets how much of the rear side's contribution is lost that way: a flat fraction, the fraction Deline and co-workers fitted to the spread of the irradiance across the cell rows, or nothing.
Options
- Flat fraction: a flat fraction of the rear side's contribution
- Deline 2020, from the rear cell rows: the mismatch calculated from the spread of the irradiance across the rear cell rows
- No rear mismatch: no rear mismatch: the rear irradiance enters the module model whole
