Reference / Tracker field shading tables
Model option
PVsyst 8 settings
The tables at 7 rotations with a cubic between them, the angular-response factors on the same tables, and every table within 25 collector widths
Inputs used: Tracker field shading tables, Row-to-row shading geometry, Rotation limit (symmetric), Placements
Method
The field's shading-factor table is formed with every tracker at each of 7 rotations evenly spread between the rotation limits (1). At each rotation the diffuse and albedo factors are the table's integrals (page step.near_shading.pvsyst_table, equations 4 and 5). The diffuse angular-response factor is the curve integrated over the sky, weighted by 1 minus the table's shaded fraction in each direction, in steps of 1° (2). The ground-reflected factor is the same integral over the ground with the table's 0° row (3). A timestep reads each factor at its rotation from a cubic between the two nearest rotations (4). The cubic's second derivative at each rotation is the second difference of the 7 values, and at the two limits that of the next rotation (5). At the flat rotation the plane sees no ground. Its albedo shading factor is the mean of those at the two rotations beside it (6), and its ground-reflected angular-response factor is 1. The tables also read each tracker's far neighbours (7). These are the tables whose centre lies within 25 collector widths across the axis and that reach to within 25 collector widths of the tracker's ends. At 60° of rotation the shadow of a tracker's top edge at a sun height of 2°, the table's lowest row, runs 25 collector widths on level ground. The projection at each timestep of the direct projection option keeps the neighbours across.
