Model step
Grid power limitation
Maximum power accepted at the grid connection
Inputs used: Grid power limitation, Grid limitation at, Grid limitation in kVA, Grid limitation: account as separate loss, Model the grid power limitation
What it is
A grid operator can cap the power a system may deliver. The model has no device at the injection point to shed the excess, so the inverters lower their AC ceiling and produce less. Each inverter brings its output down to that ceiling by the rules of the Inverter operating limits step. The cap can hold at the injection point, in which case the losses after the inverters are added to the inverter ceiling, or at the inverter output. The energy the cap removes counts in the Inverter Loss over nominal inv. power row, or in the Unused energy (grid limitation) row when the limit is accounted as a separate loss (Losses tab).
Options
- At the injection point: the inverter ceiling that leaves exactly the limit at the injection point
- At the inverter output: the inverters' ceiling set to the limit itself, ahead of the losses after the inverters
- Do not model: the inverters run to their own AC limit, with the entered grid limit kept on the Losses tab
