Reference / Grid power limitation

Model option

At the inverter output

The inverters' ceiling set to the limit itself, ahead of the losses after the inverters

Inputs used: Grid power limitation, Grid limitation at, Grid limitation in kVA, Grid limitation: account as separate loss, Model the grid power limitation

Method

The limit holds at the inverter output. The ceiling of the inverters together is the limit itself, shared equally among them, and each inverter's own AC limit still applies. The losses after the inverters then take their share, so the grid receives less than the limit. On a timestep where the array could deliver more, the inverter brings its output down to the ceiling by the rules of the Inverter operating limits step. The energy not produced counts in the Inverter Loss over nominal inv. power row, or in the Unused energy (grid limitation) row when the limit is accounted as a separate loss (Losses tab).

The math

Pmax=min⁡ ⁣(Pac(Tamb), Pgrid,limNinv)(1)P_{max} = \min\!\left(P_{ac}(T_{amb}),\ \frac{P_{grid,lim}}{N_{inv}}\right) \tag{1}

where

Symbol Meaning Unit
PmaxP_{max} the AC ceiling of one inverter W
Pac(Tamb)P_{ac}(T_{amb}) the inverter's own AC limit at the ambient temperature TambT_{amb} W
Pgrid,limP_{grid,lim} the grid power limitation as active power: a limit in kVA is multiplied by the power factor W
NinvN_{inv} the number of inverters —
