Irradiance-optimised tracking
Tracker rotation chosen for the most plane-of-array irradiance
Inputs used: Tracking mode: irradiance optimization, Irradiance-optimised tracking: method, Irradiance-optimised tracking: gain threshold, Irradiance-optimised tracking: GHI threshold
What it is
A tracker usually points its plane at the sun. Under an overcast sky most of the light is diffuse, and a flatter plane sees more of the sky than a plane turned toward the sun. Irradiance-optimised tracking checks each timestep for a rotation that collects more plane-of-array irradiance and takes it. It acts on top of the tracking rule, true tracking or backtracking, and only on single-axis trackers. A timestep in wind stow keeps the stow position. In a scene each tracker orientation bin decides for itself.
Options
- Off: the tracking rule's rotation at every step
- Flat on diffuse steps: flat when the flat plane gains enough
- Best plane angle, PVsyst application: two 1° searches from the tracking rotation to the most plane irradiance after the diffuse row shading
