Model option

Michalsky 1988

The Astronomical Almanac's approximate algorithm, accurate to 0.01°

Inputs used: Latitude, Longitude, Time zone, Altitude, Step, Station pressure, Ambient temperature

Method

The sun position follows the approximate algorithm Michalsky published from the Astronomical Almanac. The ecliptic longitude of the sun comes from its mean longitude and mean anomaly, the right ascension and declination from the obliquity, and the hour angle from the Greenwich mean sidereal time. It is accurate to 0.01° over the years 1950 to 2050. Atmospheric refraction is added from the pressure at the site elevation.
